3M Performance Yellow Masking Tape 301+ is a 6.3 mil crepe paper tape with a rubber-based adhesive engineered for precision masking work that involves heat exposure. Its defining feature is a 225°F heat resistance rating sustained for up to 30 minutes, making it one of the more capable options in the general-purpose masking category.
The crepe paper backing flexes to follow curved and irregular surfaces, and the adhesive resists paint bleed-through to preserve sharp, clean edges. Typical applications include industrial spray and brush painting, light bake-cycle masking in automotive refinishing, powder coat line protection, and surface holding during assembly in electronics and fabrication facilities.
